Once inserted, the Copper T can provide effective contraception for up to 10 years.
Hormonal IUD: The hormonal IUD releases a low dose of the hormone progestin. It is known for its contraceptive efficacy and its ability to help with heavy menstrual bleeding. During insertion, the healthcare provider will reassess you to make sure the IUD is right for you. Then, the flexible, T-shaped device is inserted into your uterus and delivers a steady stream of progestin. The hormone works by thickening cervical mucus, inhibiting sperm movement, and thinning the uterine lining to reduce menstrual bleeding. The hormonal IUD can provide effective contraception for up to 5 years.

Copper T IUDs: Bookings must be made at least 24 hours in advance, with a deposit of R500 required to secure the appointment.
Hormonal IUDs: Bookings must be made at least 3 days in advance. If you are not providing your own device, the full amount of R5500 is required to secure the appointment.
