STI Testing and Treatment
At 247 Medical and Dental Centre in Fourways, we recognise the challenges of dealing with sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and aim to provide you with thorough and discreet STI treatment in a warm and welcoming environment.
Our experienced doctors diagnose and treat various STIs such as chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis, herpes and human papillomavirus (HPV). Bacterial STIs are generally more treatable than viral STIs, which are not completely curable but can be treated effectively. For pregnant women with an STI, immediate treatment is crucial to minimise the risk of transmitting the infection to the baby.
Cost of Treatment and Consultation
- Consultation (incl. blood draw) – R620
- Full STI Blood Panel – R2200 – R2500

Treatment
STI Treatment approaches vary depending on the specific infection. Antibiotics are usually prescribed for bacterial and parasitic infections such as gonorrhoea, syphilis, chlamydia and trichomoniasis. It is important that you adhere to the entire prescription and refrain from sexual activity until all sores have healed seven days after completing treatment. Women should get tested again about three months later to rule out the possibility of reinfection.
Antiviral drugs play a crucial role in the treatment of viral STIs such as herpes and HIV. Although daily suppressive therapy can reduce the frequency of herpes outbreaks, it is important to realise that transmission is still possible. Similarly, antiviral medications help control HIV, but transmission remains a risk. Early initiation of HIV treatment and adherence to medication can lower the viral load in the blood.
After treatment, we offer follow-up examinations to confirm the success of the treatment and to detect possible reinfection.
