Biokinetics: Tracy Duke
Tracy qualified with a Bachelor of Physical Education (B.Phys Ed) degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1997, and after working in the States and the UK in both a teaching and physical therapy role, returned to Wits to complete her Honours in Biokinetics (B.HSc) in 2010.
As a biokineticist Tracy utilises exercise as the main therapeutic modality where her expertise encompasses orthopaedic rehabilitation, sports injuries and performance as her special interests; as well as chronic disease management and personal conditioning (prevent injuries rather than rehab them!)
Her focus with exercise rehabilitation with her patients is one-on-one interaction helping them to return to their prior level of functionality and to achieve their maximum potential. “It is rewarding to see people becoming healthier, pain-free and most importantly keeping them moving, improving their quality of life and achieving their goals”.
Tracy is an avid runner and cyclist, she has completed ten 2 Oceans half marathons where she gained her blue number status, and four 94.7 cycle challenges. In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors, hiking, mountain biking and, of course, playing padel.
